The Carolina Show Ski Team is a competitive, entertaining team that performs family friendly water ski shows throughout the summer at Windjammer Beach Park in Tega Cay, SC and other events around the Carolinas. We practice, perform weekly ski shows, compete in Regional and National Tournaments, and give back to our community.
What is Show Skiing?
Water ski shows are an aquatic Broadway musical, featuring several water ski acts choreographed to music and built around a theme and a plot. Show skiing combines components of all water ski disciplines like barefooting and wakeboarding. Unique to show skiing are water ski ballet, swivel skiing, adagio (strap) doubles, conventional doubles, trios, freestyle jumping, and human pyramids.
Amateur show ski teams typically involve 30-40 members rotating through several acts pulled by multiple tow boats and punctuated by an intermission. Age is not a factor since performers can range from children to grandparents. While there are a handful of paid show skiers in the United States – Tommy Bartlett’s at Wisconsin Dells, Sea World and Lego Land – most show skiers, like all of us on the Carolina Show Ski Team, are unpaid. We actually pay membership dues and fundraise for the team in order to participate.
