Tega Cay, S.C. – June 28, 2015 – The Carolina Show Ski Team (CSST) traveled to Sarasota, F.L. this weekend to compete in the Southern Regional Show Ski Tournament. Both the team and individual members competed and placed in the National Show Ski Association’s annual tournament.
Team members made the over-10-hour drive to Sarasota, F.L. to compete. Skiing in the Gulf of Mexico was an adjustment for the skiers: the weather was hotter and more humid, and buoyancy is increased in salt water. Nonetheless the Carolina Show Ski Team brought home fifth place in the team show ski division on Saturday. CSST had the largest ballet line act of the competition with 15 ladies skiing on one ski with synchronized dance movements.
Eight CSST ladies stayed to compete in the individual swivel skiing competition on Sunday. Sydney Ziemer took home top honors by winning the 360˚ division. Other medalists included Claire Frase, second place in the open division; Rebecca Brusch, third place in the 360˚ division; and Julia Ancevic, third place in the 180˚ division. Honorable mention goes to Jaclyn Whitt and Becky Fox, who placed 7th and 8th place respectively in the open division, and to Miranda LaValley and McKenzie Hines, who placed 11th and 12th place in the 180˚ division.
CSST will resume their regular ski shows July 3rd at 7pm and will perform a special show on Saturday during the City of Tega Cay’s 4th of July Celebration at 1pm following the conclusion of the boat parade. Home shows take place at Windjammer Beach Park in Tega Cay, S.C.
