Sixteen years ago, Fred Wingate started his company on a zero budget. He was knocking on Tega Cay doors to get clients with the aim to channel his prior experience, set down roots locally, and keep doing what he loves on the lake – skiing.

Fred is a Charlotte native who went off to Florida for university and discovered a passion for water skiing. He’s not just your average skier, though. Fred does the high-flying and exciting acts of show skiing reserved for the fearless. He’s a freestyle jumper who does flips over the jump ramp, he skis on shoe skis --water skiing on boards barely longer than the foot itself, he barefoot water skis, he provides a part of the base level of three and four level pyramids with skiers standing on his shoulders, and more. When Fred skis the hydrofoil, a single ski that the rider uses strapped on a chair above the ski while flipping and twisting, the audience can catch a glimpse of the distinctive green Noosa logo.

Because the company Fred created on that zero budget is none other than the independent, locally-owned, widely respected Noosa Pest Management.

Noosa provides indoor and outdoor pest management to the local North and South Carolina community with trust. The company’s mission is intentional in everything they do – they treat others the way they would like to be treated. This culture extends to their employees, who they view as family, and their valued clients. Client turnover is very low, because Noosa employees are encouraged to go the extra mile to make clients happy, and Fred is personally available for client phone calls.

Noosa is deeply engaged in the community. Fred dons his green suit for the Tega Cay Independence Day parade each year, and Noosa sponsors the Tega Cay Elementary, Gold Hill Elementary, and Gold Hill Middle schools’ PTOs and well as the Fort Mill High School 4H Club, the Children’s Attention Home, numerous little league groups, and the non-profits of particular importance to Fred’s family, the Logan Jett Research Foundation, Inc. and the Epilepsy Foundation of North Carolina. Fred and his wife, Ellen’s youngest son, Logan, is affected by Polymicrogyria and Epilepsy. Fred Junior, their 15-year-old son, is also a very skilled show skier and performs with his father as part of the Carolina Show Ski Team. Fred Senior joined the team in 2001 and served on the Board for 4 years.
